From Farm to Table
Children’s Cove has been awarded ECDA Innovation Grant 2019 to implement “From Farm to Table” in our preschools. When we speak to children about nutrition, we must always think about where our food come from. In Singapore, we get most of what we need from the supermarket. We have incorporated a schedule that exposes children to gardening and cookery. Children get to dig into the soil and pull out some ingredients for cookery. Parents get involved to contribute seeds for planting, recipes for cookery lessons, and their time to volunteer in the classrooms.
Rhythm, Rhyme and Repetition
We have in place a library of thematic music with classic tunes to complement our curriculum at every level. Music brings immense benefits to everyone. At Children’s Cove, we pride ourselves as a child-centric preschool and we want our children to internalise useful knowledge in a fun way. Using music allows us to repeat the information to children in an enjoyable manner. We have seen result in children’s improved ability to retain new knowledge creatively through songs.
Wordless Wonders
Children’s Cove has been awarded ECDA Innovation Grant 2016 to implement “Wordless Wonders” in our preschools. This project has successfully helped preschool children, including those with dyslexia, to develop the confidence to pick up a book to read independently. It has exposed children to a wider range of literature and further cultivated children’s love for books. Some wordless books have been selected as our term books too.
Global Citizenship
A global citizen is aware of and understands the wider world and their place in it. They take an active role in their community, and work with others to make our planet more equal, fair and sustainable. The curriculum for K1 and K2 children focuses on building general knowledge and awareness as they become responsible global citizens. Besides, K1 and K2 children read and discuss about news in both English and Chinese weekly using newspapers as well as via Current Affairs Show & Tell. This programme aims to build confident, curious and inquisitive learners with an empathy for humankind.
Character Cornerstone
Beyond academics, we consider the development of compassion, kindness, and understanding to be the foundation for a life that is both harmonious and meaningful. To cultivate this, we engage our preschool students with age-appropriate materials that reflect the diversity of people in the world. In doing so, this program aims to foster a sense of appreciation for people from all walks of life.
